Small Town Urban Design
Much of our heritage is embedded in small towns. As our population becomes more urban than rural our heritage is at risk. While many parts of our economy could only happen in places like Calgary or Edmonton, much of our economy can happen very competitively in small towns, offering lower housing costs and an enhanced quality of life.
Small towns aren’t simply smaller versions of big cities; small towns are unique in their own right. Employing principles developed by the Center for Small Town Urban Design at Mississippi State University and at Auburn University’s Rural Studio, Boreas Architectural & Civic Design organizes teams of specialists to revitalize and re-energize small towns, using local heritage as catalysts for economic development.
Boreas is very keen on small town urban design.
